Definition

A regulator is the government authority that licences and supervises financial-services firms in a given jurisdiction — FCA in the UK, SEC and CFTC in the US, ASIC in Australia, CySEC in Cyprus, BaFin in Germany. Regulator quality is the single biggest determinant of broker trustworthiness.
